Across the nation, entertainment-sports have been cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic. The 2020 Olympic Games have been postponed until 2021 and all sport games have been paused; this, in order to prevent players and fans from danger in any close contact with anyone who may be infected. However, as only few essential pieces of infrastructure remain open in cities well throughout the country, many cite convenient stores and take-out restaurants as those that immediately come to mind.

‘The Improvaholics’ campus comedy club amuses students in challenging PG-rated show

As a warm Friday night embraced Sonoma State students, the lights shined on stage in the Warren Theater at Sonoma State University. Students eagerly chatted as the night went on; the seats filled well across the room, with attendees ready to enjoy a night filled with instantaneous laughter. Captivating the excited bunch from 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28 until 2 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 29, the campus improv club, The Improvohalics, performed its “PG Improv Comedy Show.”

College textbook conspiracy

Recently, in a class-action lawsuit filed in late Jan. 2020, four companies representing independent bookstores accused publishers including Pearson, Cengage, McGraw-Hill Education, and book store chains like Barnes & Noble and Follet for trying to push independent bookstores out of business.

For many years all across the nation, students had the ability to buy textbooks at a cheaper price by purchasing from off-campus bookstores, but current trends indicate that independent bookstores are closing while textbook prices rose 88% from 2006-2016, according to a Bureau of Labor Statistics report.

Succulent pot designing at Saturday DIY Night

Sonoma State University is filled with fun activities to do, even on the weekends. On Feb. 8, Saturday DIY took place on campus from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Vineyard room by the Zinfandel residential community. This activity was free to all students and gave Seawolves the chance to put their artistic abilities to use. Attendees painted a succulent pot that they could take home to decorate their dorms with.

The Art Gallery will be having a reception featuring art that has been donated to the SSU Art Collection over the past 40 years.
