Monarch butterflies head toward extinction

Natural Ecosystems include all of the resources that humans have today. The life that lives in the soil and in the natural environment has sustained planet earth since life began to formulate. Nature doesn’t just include natural resources, ecosystems are what create diverse habitats for all living creatures. It is our social responsibility to protect our environment in order to create a habitable, hospitable, survivable world for all living organisms.

Real estate in Sonoma County; good time to buy or sell?

The Real Estate market overall, is in a good position, according to BAREIS MLS, a service that provides real estate information about properties on and off the market. In a cumulative assessment, the average amount of homes for sale in comparison to the same quarter last year was down approximately 35.5 %. The amount of homes for sale is down, however, the cumulative amount of homes sold is up by 20% versus the same quarter one year ago.

Lingering drought and impending fires in Sonoma County

Sonoma County’s rainfall levels are at historic lows. After some of California’s largest wildfires and consistently low rainfall, Sonoma County’s water supply has been drained. According to Sonoma Water, the current year 2021 is being compared to Ukiah in the 1976/1977 drought when rainfall recorded was 16.12 inches as of this year Ukiah has received 3.88 inches less.

Is the United States going to boycott the Winter Olympics in Beijing?

Many countries around the world have considered the option of pulling out of the Winter 2022 Beijing Olympics over concerns about human rights violations and the repression and genocide of ethnic Uyghur Muslims in the Chinese province of Xinjiang. Amid these atrocious human rights abuse, China is trying to strong-arm the United States into competing despite all concerns.

PayPal now accepting Bitcoin transactions

PayPal has announced it will be adding Bitcoin as an additional viable form of payment on their money transfer platform. Bitcoin is a decentralized currency that uses energy miners to solve highly complex equations that produce Bitcoins. Bitcoin has garnered a lot of attention in recent months as its price continues to climb.

In due time the answers we may find, what is said, comes from the heart and the mind, to express is to learn and to learn to express, to write, and to meet together as one. Where could one find this location of this poetic community, it is “Spoke!” the show happened on. March 6, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Family Weekend highlights: Drive-in event

As family weekend approached and passed this weekend here at Sonoma State University, there were many events for students and their families. Activities from the weekend included a plethora of great experiences, virtual and non-virtual. This family weekend involved many but to note a few was, a welcome by Dr. Judy Sakaki as well as other campus administrators, A Green Music Center show featuring the ‘Alphabet Rockers,’ virtual caricatures, learning how to draw peanut characters, how to make snowflake shortbread cookies, making gratitude “lucky me” jars, no bake cookies and cheesecake, DIY peppermint hot chocolate, and of course a drive-in movie.

Music auditions now available

Sonoma State University’s Music department is highly competitive and educates a very diverse group of students who perform. Currently, the department is holding auditions for prospective students, and deadlines are Feb. 27 and March 31.

Buccaneers take victory in 2021 Super Bowl

As we prepared for what was likely the greatest match up in history, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs Vs. Tom Brady and the Buccaneers in Super Bowl 2021. In a normal year there would be large gatherings at restaurants, bars, pubs, sports lounges and events happening around the State. During these times however, it appears that most of us will be having a more low-key watch party, while some of us will be out working providing service during the day.
