Volleyball sweeps critical weekend of games

The Sonoma State volleyball team capped off a long road stretch with two big wins over Cal State Stanislaus and longtime rival Chico State, doing their best to secure the last spot in the CCAA playoffs. With the two victories, the Seawolves are currently in fifth place in the conference heading into the last week of regular-season games.

SSU women’s soccer players win consecutive honors

The Seawolves women's soccer team is off to another strong start this season that has been highlighted by Molly Murphy and Lexi Zandonella-Arasa winning CCAA Player of the Week honors for two consecutive weeks. Their standout performances have helped Sonoma to a 15 National Ranking according to United Soccer Coaches and a 6-1 start to the year.

Sonoma to face Dominican in annual 100-inning fundraiser game

Sonoma State Softball plans to return to the diamond for a 100-inning fundraising exhibition game against North Bay rival Dominican University on Oct. 1 at Sonoma State. The game will start at 10 a.m. and go far beyond the usual two hour time slot. The two teams will also be competing to see who can raise the most money for their respective programs, according to SSU Athletics.

Table tennis tournaments return at the Rec Center

The Recreation Center has returned this semester, and with it comes the return of the Intramural Table Tennis tournament running from September 12-30, with the finals set for October 1st from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Seawolves triumph 3-1 in weekend tournament

The Sonoma State women’s volleyball team opened the Seawolf/Gator Classic with two 3-1 victories over the visiting Chico State Wildcats and Dominican University Penguins. The Penguins responded to the Seawolves first set victory with a tight win in the second, but Sonoma cleaned up their early mistakes and put it away with two straight set wins.

Seattle Pacific beats Sonoma State in season opener

Sonoma State’s lone goal wasn’t enough to take down the strong visiting Seattle Pacific University Falcons Thursday afternoon at Seawolf field. Senior Forward Alex Mejia led the way for the Falcons scoring the only two goals of the game. The lone Seawolf goal came on a penalty kick from Sophomore midfielder Sean Rohane. Sebastian Bernal-Santos had all four of his shots on goal but the Falcons Senior goalkeeper Lars Hellernan shut down the attempts.

COVID-19 booster available for high-risk groups

The COVID-19 booster shot by Pfizer and Moderna is being administered to the elderly and immunocompromised across the United States, while Johnson and Johnson still awaits clinical trials. The first doses in the Bay Area were given about a week ago, mainly at nursing homes. The infrastructure to support another mass vaccine rollout is already in place and is ready to vaccinate everyone looking for a third dose. People will only be eligible for the vaccine at least 8 months after receiving their second dose of Pfizer or Moderna.
