SSU administration faced with criticism for lack of support for immunocompromised students

With Sonoma State requiring facial coverings to be worn inside all campus buildings and a reported 98.34% of students who are fully vaccinated as of Jan. 28, 2022, the average student will undoubtedly be safe and will most likely experience very mild symptoms associated with COVID-19. However, there still remains a small percentage of students that are at a higher risk of contracting the virus and aren’t being looked out for the way most able-bodied people are – the immunocompromised.

Student workers secure new contract for better wages

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted both the economy and workforce in unforeseeable ways. In order to combat a shortage of workers, on Nov. 9, the CSU Board of Trustees approved the new two-year Student Worker UAW 4123 union contract that ensures better wages, rights, and working conditions.

COVID-19 vaccine mandate for schools met with protests

Last Monday, parents opposing the vaccine mandate kept their kids home from school and took part in protests across the state. Some parents even decided to take their child to protest with them. Here in Sonoma County, approximately 200 parents and children protested at the Sonoma County Office of Education.

SSU’s equestrian team doesn’t horse around

Sonoma State’s Equestrian team is one of the many hidden gems of the university. Established 13 years ago, the team has won many prestigious awards and trained many Seawolves in the art of handling a horse. Current member Paige Hara even went on to earn the title of a national champion just last summer.

Unwind at Sonoma State’s Health and Wellbeing Fair

Sonoma State’s Health and Wellbeing Fair could not have come at a better time for Seawolves that are looking for resources to help with the transition back to college life. The Seawolf Health and Wellbeing Fair is scheduled to take place on Sept. 22 from 11:30 a.m to 1 p.m in the Seawolf Plaza.
