Seawolves showcase their talents at Open Mic Night

Students took the floor to showcase their talents at ASP's (Associated Students Productions) first open mic night of the semester on Wed. March 9 from 7:00 p.m - 8:00 p.m. The event took place on campus at Weyden + Brewster and featured a variety of talents, including musicians, comedians, scriptwriters, and poets. Altogether, 5 students performed and approximately 15 audience members attended the event.

Music Department students perform the Rock Collegium at the Green Music Center

SSU's Concert Jazz and Latin Jazz Ensembles took the stage of Schroeder Recital Hall on March 3 from 7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. The Concert Jazz Ensemble kicked off the show with a five-piece set which consisted of songs by famous musicians such as Duke Ellington and Hank Mobley. After a brief intermission, the Latin Jazz group performed six pieces starting with a song called Amazonia by Ana Caram.

Restaurant Week brings hungry patrons to Rohnert Park businesses

It's that time of year again, near the tail end of winter, when Sonoma County's restaurants open their doors to patrons for Restaurant Week. Sonoma County has continued to make Restaurant Week a priority throughout the COVID-19 pandemic in hopes of supporting local businesses. Eighty-seven restaurants participated this year by offering reduced or fixed-price menus. Every eatery partaking in the event offered five-dollar "perks", lunches that ranged from $10-$25, as well as dinners ranging from $25-$55. The event took place from Feb. 21 - Feb. 27.

Students show ‘Noma Pride’ at free bowling night

Like clockwork, at 10 p.m on the first Thursday of every month, Sonoma State students swarmed the parking lot of Double Decker Lanes in Rohnert Park to bowl for free from 10 p.m. - 12 a.m.

Double Decker Lanes is located off of Foxtail Golf Resort in Rohnert Park. It is a local, family-owned bowling alley featuring 50 bowling lanes, food, beverages, and an arcade. Double Decker has been a part of the Rohnert Park community for almost 50 years. It is also one of the largest bowling alleys in the North Bay.

Local Santa Rosa farm opens up to the public for Valentine’s weekend

A labyrinth of lavender, bees, flowers, and wildlife running along the pathways through the center of the farm was a glimpse of what could be seen at the 11-acre plot Bees N Blooms. The CCOF-Certified Organic farm opened back up to the public for Valentine's Day weekend between Feb. 12 and Feb. 13 from 10 a.m to 3 p.m.

University Art Gallery re-opens after nearly two-year hiatus

The 38th annual Art from the Heart benefit auction reopened the University Art Gallery's doors after being shut down for 2 years due to COVID. The exhibition took place between Feb. 2 and Feb. 5 from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. and showcased a variety of artistic mediums from local Sonoma County artists. All proceeds from the auction go directly to the gallery and help fund various lectures and programs for students.
