Two Seawolves earn All-American nominations

The Sonoma State Women’s Soccer team had what most would consider a successful season in 2022, winning their third consecutive CCAA title. At the forefront of the successful season were two players who received All-American status, sophomore Lexi Zandonella-Arasa, and senior Julia Pritchard.

A season to remember for Women’s Soccer

SSU Women's soccer accomplished a lot of things in the 2022 season. Of course, team accomplishments are the most important, and the Seawolves achieved something special with their third consecutive as CCAA Conference Champions. But there were some individuals on the team that received extra recognition for the stellar seasons that they had. The team had seven All-CCAA players named and multiple All-West Region first team nods as well.

Terrific season for Women’s Cross Country continues

Have you ever made a nonverbal statement? Have your actions ever been so strong that no words are necessary? Freshman cross-country runner Gianna Bomarito has made multiple in her first year at Sonoma State, from record-breaking performances to numerous top five finishes. But, she will look to make her biggest statement of all at the NCAA Division 2 regional competition in Billings, Mont., on Nov. 19.

Two Rohnert Park children were struck by vehicles in separate hit-and-run accidents on Wednesday morning. The children suffered minor injuries but these accidents have sparked worry in the minds of some local residents.

Sonoma goes low to win home tournament

The Sonoma State men's golf team celebrated as if they had "just won the lottery" after a strong finish to win the NCAA regional preview title this past Tuesday. The celebration was great. But after the first two days of the three-day event, it didn't appear as though Seawolves would have much to celebrate. Then, after a "surprising" first two rounds, the Seawolves came storming back from behind.

There's a new kid on the block. Sonoma State's Women's Cross Country Freshman Gianna Bomarito didn't waste any time, breaking a record in her first month with the team. Bomarito moved into fifth place in the program's history in the women's 6k with a 21:42.6 on Sept. 10.

Seawolves winning streak comes to an end

The Wolves Den was full of energy asEnter Sandman” by Metallica played just before the SSU women's volleyball match vs. Cal State East Bay on Saturday afternoon. This game featured two teams riding in with a lot of momentum, with SSU on a 7-game winning streak and Cal State East Bay on a 6-game streak. The SSU women were not on the winning end in this one losing 3-1. After being "humbled," the team is ready to turn the page.

Seawolves take down nationally ranked Western Washington

It was hard not to notice Head Coach Emiria Salzmann of Sonoma State Women's Soccer was absent for the team's 2-1 win vs. Western Washington on Saturday afternoon in Rohnert Park, Calif. Salzmann, in her eleventh year at Sonoma State, is known for her relentless dedication. Assistant Coach Kristal Luna, who filled in for Salzmann, clarified the reason after the game, "Her mom, unfortunately, passed away this morning, so she obviously had to spend that time with her family."
