Seawolves Speak!: winter traditions

With the holidays just right around the corner, students are excited to be able to return to their families for the holidays. With a total of five weeks of freedom, seawolves are eager to start their breaks. All students are ready for their family traditions and home cooking. The STAR asked Sonoma State Univeristy students, “Do you have any holiday traditions that you will be celebrating over winter break?”

Remembering to give back during the holidays

The Winter Holiday season has arrived and people are in full throttle in searching for gifts for their loved ones, friends, co-workers and peers. 

As busy college students, interns and professionals, we tend to not take notice that fifteen percent of the population lives below the poverty line.

Balloons released in support of mental health

Millions of people are affected by mental health disorders every year. 1,100-college students take their own life from mental health disorders every year. The Sonoma State student body comes together as one in support of mental health awareness week. The University class 238 held a mental health awareness walk on Nov. 12 that started at the Sauvignon green and ending at Cabernet vineyard.

Made by Seawolves store to open this month

Sonoma state University is opening an exclusive store for students to show off their creativity. Seawolf entrepreneurs will soon have their own store and the opportunity to sell their creative andinnovative products. This new store will be called Made by Seawolves. 

 

JUMP gears up for sixth Sonoma Serves

The JUMP organization will hold its sixth annual Sonoma Serves project where approximately 650 students will join together for a day of service in the community. Sonoma Serves will be held on October 17. Students will check in at the Seawolf Plaza at 7:45 a.m., and the event will go until 3 p.m. The JUMP organization is a student-run, community service organization that has a main goal to benefit other students. Sonoma Serves is a great way to give back to our community.

Jean and Charles Schulz Information Center celebrates fifteen year anniversary

On Sept. 10 the local community gathered for the 15th Anniversary of the Jean and Charles Schulz Information Center. This event commemorates a special moment for Sonoma State as they are celebrating 15 years of support for student learning, research, information, student scholarships and grants.

Student spotlight: Demarcus Luckett

Rec fest gets students moving

Excitement and thrills are in full swing as the fall semester starts with a new era of the Recreational Fest. This event, which was formerly known as Sun Fest, begins the launch of a newly found tradition for the Rec Center. Rec Fest has its own celebratory night, which brings in a large turnout of guests and students.
