2020 presidential race update: Nov. 7 – 9:05 P.M.

On Saturday morning, it was announced that Joe Biden had won the 2020 presidential election in both the electoral and popular vote. In a sweeping comeback, Biden won the key battleground state of Pennsylvania, which placed him over the necessary score of 270 electoral votes.

Gov. Newsom vetoes bill to aid low-income immigrants

Pentagon spent taxpayer money meant for COVID-19 relief on military supplies

Recent taxpayer-backed efforts to battle the novel Coronavirus pandemic, which has killed more than 200,000 Americans, has instead been spent on purchasing more military supplies.

Online instruction continues through spring semester

On September 10, 2020, all faculty, staff, and students of the California State University system received an unfortunate email from the Office of the Chancellor. According to the email, all CSU schools will continue with primarily virtual instruction through the January 2021 academic term. Additionally, only reduced populations will be able to live in campus housing.

Emergency 9-1-1 text service soon available to SSU students

In order to better protect Sonoma State students, the University Police Department is implementing a new, next generation 9-1-1 text service. This technology will broaden access for SSU community members who may be deaf, hard of hearing, have a speech disability, or who cannot safely call 9-1-1 in a dangerous situation.

SSU supports the BLM movement

The Black Lives Matter movement has recently received nation-wide attention, sparked by the murder of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. Although police brutality and the abuse of power by police officers has been an ongoing issue--particularly within diverse communities of color--the movement has become a national debate and is slowly transforming into a revolution.
