Sleeping is known to be one of the most necessary things humans do we sleep for about one-third of our lives. But some us sleep too much and miss out on life’s opportunities and damage our health at the same time. Sleep: the cousin of death strikes.
The SSU Greek Community Service Day was a great success as 17 organizations and more than 525 SSU students contributed almost 2,000 hours of volunteer work in the Sonoma County community. The volunteers were spread out amongst 12 work sites helping causes including the Redwood Empire Food Bank, Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue, Catholic Charities Restyle Market, Canine Companions for Independence, Petaluma Bounty, SSU Community Garden, four Sonoma County parks and two Sonoma County Water Agency Creeks.
Kids, teens and young adults consume more media a day than ever before: whether it is television, internet, radio, video games or other sources, the average person spends five hours and 37 minutes on media a day. Is the time spent on media necessary or is it wasting our time in the digital world? Not only do social media, video games and non-informational television shows waste our time, but consuming too much media can be very unhealthy or even deadly.
Family plays an insurmountable role in everyone’s life. From being a child to becoming an adult we are surrounded by our family, which influences our behavior, but more importantly gives us new experiences everyday to learn from. My definition of family is anyone you care about enough to do anything for.
Just in time for the frigid winter season, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ hit “Frozen” did not disappoint viewers or the box office. Disney’s 3D animated musical “Frozen” had the best opening weekend for any Walt Disney animation film since “The Lion King.”
Spring registration for 2014 is still ongoing, but most classes are full and there are slim chances students can get into the classes they need at this point.

Everyone takes pride in the national and historic beauty of the Golden Gate Bridge, but did you know it’s the site where more people go to commit suicide than anywhere else in the world?
There seems to be a haze in government, society and individual debate about whether to legalize marijuana or not. California is on the verge of passing the legalization of marijuana in 2014, but is it the right thing to do for our state?
For many of us, our expectation for college is that it will be the best time of our life; a time where we try new things, learn who we really are and have memories that we will never forget, regretful or not.
