The currency of likes are a thing of the past

Contrary to what people believed earlier this week, Instagram is not removing “likes” from their platform permanently. Their team accidentally caused a glitch while attempting to run a test on a small portion of accounts. CNN reported that a spokesperson for Facebook said, "We unintentionally added more people to the test today, which was a bug — we're fixing this issue and restoring like counts to those people as soon as possible."

Romanticizing serial killers in the media

Netflix’s 2021 documentary “Night Stalker” brought the glorification of serial killers to light. “Night Stalker” focuses on a man named Richard Ramirez, who murdered 15 people throughout California during the 1980s. He began his massacre in Southern California and eventually made his way down to Northern California, murdering a San Francisco man only an hour away from Sonoma State. Once Ramirez was put on trial, he quickly rose to fame. The attention snowballed into something bigger- a fan club.

SSU sexual assault prevention compared SRJC

It’s time for Sonoma State University to address sexual assault on campus and in the surrounding areas of Rohnert Park. According to SSU’s annual crime report, there have been 29 reported rapes on campus between 2018-2019. Not only is there flawed prevention- but there’s a flaw in response.

Miley Cyrus’ album ranks no. 1 on rock charts

On Nov. 27 Miley Cyrus released her debut rock album called “Plastic Hearts”, which has been No.1 on the U.S. rock charts since its release. Many young adults have watched Miley grow from being the teenie pop star “Hannah Montana'' into her less juvenile self today. This transition into rock would be fantastic- if only it was a real rock album.
