Women in Conversation at the GMC: elevating female empowerment

The “Sonoma County Women in Conversation Experience,” presented by Summit State Bank along with The Press Democrat, was recently held on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at the Green Music Center at Sonoma State University. The Experience features daytime talks along with the showcasing of over fifty exhibitors, with tabling from local companies empowering women all along the venue’s Trione Courtyard and Weill Lawn. Among the speakers present were some of the top females within their industry, such as Annie Sherman, the Sustainability Coordinator at Oliver’s Market. From those within women-related businesses and services--to financial planning and home design--to personal style as well as health and wellness, there were plenty of entrepreneurs to speak with at the event.

‘Dig into Nature’: naturalist training meting unearths the unexpected

Ever visited one of the Sonoma State University preserves? A student experience well worthy of undertaking, the Sonoma County area boasts three university preserves: the Osborn Preserve, Galbreath Preserve, and Los Guilicos Preserve. At the “Dig into Nature” informational meeting held on Wednesday, Sept. 4, led by Suzanne DeCoursey, students explore what the student Naturalist training entails at the Osborn Preserve.

The Part-time Job, Internship, and Service Fair offers more than expected

The Part-time Job, Internship, and Service Fair at Salazar Plaza is a huge hit for students and employers searching for opportunities as abundant as the students that flock to it. On Wednesday Aug. 28, with more than 150 companies in attendance, readily informative and excited employers interact with those interested in opportunities to work with them. Particularly, for students engaged in interests surrounding careers in entertainment and travel, the fair provides exactly that.

Outside Lands music festival back and breaking records

Outside Lands music festival, held every August at Golden Gate Park, saw the festival take place at the beginning of the month from Aug. 9-11. Due to its close proximity to universities alike across the Bay Area, the festival happily hosts a plethora of students engaged in a wide variety of similar music interests and high profile artists. Altogether the festival revolves around music, vendors, food, and good times with friends.
