A California State University proposal to increase tuition in 2018-19 is raising concerns among Sonoma State University students who are questioning what the increase is for and how it benefits them.

SSU student lawsuit names bump-stock maker and MGM

MGM Resorts, the owner of the Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas, failed to respond quickly enough to stop a gunman before he started randomly shooting into an outdoor audience of 22,000 people on Oct. 1, leaving 58 dead and more than 500 injured, according to a lawsuit filed by a Sonoma State University student who was severely injured in the shooting.

SSU helps student affected by fires

For the past few weeks, Sonoma State University students and faculty have worked together to rebuild and support those directly affected by the recent fires and the catastrophe they left. As campus reopened to students on Oct. 18, so did the NomaCares center and its services.

Experiment highlights brain’s function in decision making

As one of mankind’s biggest mysteries, the human brain poses questions that scientists still struggle to answer. The basis of these mysteries boil down to one basic question: “Are we in control of the brain, or is the brain in control of us?” said Jesse Bengson, psychology professor at Sonoma State University.

Printmaking, etching and lithography; oh my!

As a little girl, Sophia Larsen would visit her mother’s art class and paint the room, using only her body as a tool. Years later, after leaving her hometown of Forest Knolls, Larsen came to Sonoma State to pursue her Bachelors of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in printmaking; more specifically, in etching and lithography.

New album, save sound

Similar to his previous works, Johnson channels his usual soft rock and acoustic folk sounds on the 10-track album, ‘All the Light Above it Too’.  Released on Sept. 8, the mellow rhymes, yet cynical lyrics,  take listeners on a thoughtful and romantic journey.

VMA Recap: Year of change

The annual MTV Video Music Awards kicked off on Sunday night at the Forum in Los Angeles. This years show took their own stance with the topic of neutrality and equal rights by changing the name of the ‘Moon Man’ award to ‘Moon Person.’
