Depp sues Heard for defamation amid career turmoil

After years of back and forth abuse allegations, brutal headlines from the tabloids and being dropped from various big name roles, Actor Johnny Depp is suing his ex-wife and fellow actor Amber Heard for defamation. Depp filed the lawsuit after Heard wrote an essay for the New York Post in 2018 that implied she had been a victim of domestic abuse. Depp was not named in the article, but the claims Heard made echoed previous ones she’d made against him during their divorce in 2016, thus Depp claims it damaged his reputation.

Sacramento shooting adds to gun control conversation

On April 3, six people were killed and 12 more were injured during a shooting in Sacramento, Calif. The Sacramento Police Department believes that there were five shooters and that this shooting was the result of gang violence between two groups. This event has led to conversations regarding the state’s gun control laws and the lack of news coverage.

Oscars slap conversations consume the internet

On March 27, Will Smith slapped Comedian Chris Rock across the face at the 94th annual Academy Awards, and the internet will not stop talking about it. Smith resorted to violence after Rock made a joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith who suffers from Alopecia, being bald.
