Wine Business hosts new certificate course

For many college students, building a résumé means putting down volunteer and job experience, but the wine business department students will be able to put more than the basics down on paper. In the spring of 2015, the wine business department is hosting a “Creating a Competitive Wine Brand” course to earn a certificate through Extended Education. 

Restaurant Review: Shangri-La

Shangri-La welcomes customers with an aroma that overtakes senses and leaves mouths watering. Shangri-La is a restaurant with many food flavors with foods that descend from the Himalayas and Nepal. The owner of the restaurant, Meenakshi Sharma, made and designed all the food herself. Sharma came up with the menu by asking regular customers what their thoughts were, and to be honest about how it tasted.

Las Vegas style comes to campus

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas-unless one is a student at Sonoma State University. On Saturday, Residential Student Affairs (RSA) and Associated Student Productions (ASP) paired together to make a night of fun-filled games, food and raffle prizes. Each student on campus was invited to play Vegas-style games at the Student Center in the Grand Ballroom at 8:30 p.m. Saturday night.

With nine specialty year-round brews and nine seasonal brews, Lagunitas has an assortment of flavors to try.

Four words describe the sororities powderpuff tournament; pain, excitement, intensity and philanthropy. At Gamma Phi Beta’s Crescent Classic, seven teams played their hearts out. Each team came out of the weekend full of excitement about playing or about raising money for Girls on the Run.

Kickin’ It with Kappa celebrates teamwork

Kickin’ It with Kappa is a major philanthropy for sorority Kappa Delta Zeta. On Saturday, 12 teams gathered at S Section Park to play a game of kickball. Every team was made of different people from Greek organizations, the women’s club soccer team and CSA’s.

New beer club on campus

The club Beer Enthusiasts Society of Tasting (BEST SSU) was created for the students that are interested in learning more about beer and its background.

Lobo’s new Sunday football specials

Football is back, and it’s even better. Game day can now be enjoyed at Lobo’s while enjoying a soda, beer or a burger.  Since Sonoma State does not have a football team anymore, Lobo’s is now offering to let people come and watch the games all day long and enjoy food and drink specials.

JUMP raises the student volunteer bar

Jump jump jump around, jump jump up and get down for community service with the JUMP club, who are devoted to help the community.  JUMP stands for Join Us Making Progress and is a “student-run, student-led community service organization” said senior Emily Langill,  also the senior director of JUMP. Langill holds the highest position in the club other than the paid positions.
