Salary agreement approved by faculty association

After weeks of the California Faculty Association and the California State University Board of Trustees debating means to provide better pay for professors, a tentative agreement was reached and was approved in a vote on April 8. Members of the faculty association approved the agreement by 97 percent.

Voting begins on tentative faculty salary agreement

The polls opened last Friday for voting on the recent California State University salary agreement that ended a proposed faculty strike earlier this month. The voting period began at 6 a.m. last Friday and will remain open until noon this Friday. Those in the California Faculty Association will be able to vote on whether the California State University Board of Trustees will finalize the agreement through email

For the last few months the California Faculty Association has pushed for better salaries. The union also is supporting a proposal to make the tax increases approved by voters in Proposition 30 permanent.

Work fair showcases volunteer abroad opportunities

WIVA, or Work Intern Volunteer Abroad, is an organization set up to promote other programs that allow students to travel abroad. The opportunities these programs provide are numerous. They include studying certain majors abroad, working for internships abroad and doing various types of community service. 

Last Saturday, WIVA held a small fair outside Salazar Quad. The setting was simple but colorful, with a table for each program set up and flags from all over the world above them.

‘Fuller House’ goes up in flames as original fans watch in horror

“Fuller House,” directed by Jeff Franklin, is the long awaited sequel series to “Full House.” It promised to provide a fun rush of nostalgia and to display the new adventures of the characters of the original series. It made improvements to the original series, and tried to add a few new elements to freshen up the series; but it accomplishes neither.

The Spreckels Theatre Company presents one of the most recent stage performances of the 1953 musical “Kismet” which contains a lively setting, exhilarating performances, and a faithful adaptation of the musical (a fact that is both a strength and weakness of the show).

‘Art from the Heart’ exhibit celebrates 32 years of creativity

The Department Of Music and Department of Theatre Arts & Dance has been spending the previous semester developing their production of “Into The Woods.” The actors are a major part of the hard work that has been put into bringing the musical to SSU, including Emily Rice, a second year student at the Sonoma State University.
