Provisions to Clery Act improve safety

The Obama administration announced last week that it had implemented new rules to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. The Clery Act, which was introduced to the Senate in 1989, is a federal statute that requires all colleges who receive federal financial aid to store and disclose all information about crime on or near their respective campuses. 

Zaum literary magazine accepting submissions

Zaum is a word defined as being transrational, beyond what is perceived by the senses or understood by rational analysis. Zaum is also the name of Sonoma State’s literary magazine. Commencing its 19th year of publication, Zaum is getting ready to release their latest issue. In anticipation for the newest issue, Zaum is currently accepting submissions.

Textbook resolution aims to relieve debt

Associated Students has unanimously passed resolution AS.R1.14.15, “Reducing the Cost of Education by Engaging in the Textbook Alternative Pilot.” This resolution is intended to help develop alternative methods of presenting course material that will try to appease the growing financial burden that buying course books has on students.

Associated Students address sustainability goal

The Associated Student body met on Friday in the Student Center to discuss various campus issues. Sonoma State University’s director of sustainability, Paul Draper, began the meeting as he presented a mission statement in favor of making SSU a more sustainable campus in the upcoming years.
