Q&A: Author Johnny Kern’s view of unsolved campus murder

Since Kimberly’s death, no arrests have been made. True-crime author and investigator Johnny Kerns looked deeper into this investigation and wrote a book on the case called, “Inherit the Whole Earth,” in which he names who he believes killed Kimberly. He answered questions surrounding Kimberly’s murder that have not been put out to the public.

Clegg mentioned there are several challenges being Title IX Director, but some of the biggest are, “keeping up with constantly changing deferral or external guidelines, and helping people understand and/or battling misconceptions about what the purpose of a Title IX office truly is.”

Canvas transition continues

At the start of the 2018-2019 school year, Sonoma State University began the process of moving from Moodle to Canvas as their new learning management system (LMS). Some instructors may still be using Moodle instead of Canvas. For most students who have attended  Sonoma State since their freshman year, they are used to going through Moodle for their school needs.

Judy Sakaki visits the STAR

Safety was an issue that was brought up and she said while the safety on campus is getting better, it is not quite there yet. “It’s about education,” she said. Sakaki said the way residential life is structured was looked at for improvement following last year’s dorm room stabbing.

Student president removed, vice president steps up

On June 4, Sonoma State University’s Associated Student Senate announced a new AS President for the 2018-2019 term, Carley Chatterley. Chatterley, the former AS Vice President, was promoted to the position when former AS President Manny Ojeda was removed.
