On Wednesday, Sept. 24, legendary comedian Molly Shannon will be speaking at Sonoma State as a part of the Press Democrat’s Women in Conversation series.
Shannon, a six-season veteran of Saturday Night Live, starred as a Repertory Player alongside comedy icons such as Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler, and Tracy Morgan from 1995 to 2001.
Shannon is notable for her character acting, originating roles like Mary Katherine Gallagher and Rockette-auditionee Sally O’Malley in SNL sketches.
Her other projects include Netflix’s Horse Girl, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, and crime drama Promising Young Woman.
Shannon’s memoir, “Hello Molly!”, came out in 2022. The New York Times bestseller gives a new perspective on Shannon’s life, exploring how a tragedy at a young age set the stage for her to develop an innovative, celebrated career.
Women in Conversation will host an intimate evening with Shannon at the Green Music Center as she discusses her life and career, followed by a book signing.
The event will begin with a free-to-attend experience on Weill Lawn with vendors and food trucks from 3 to 6 p.m., and conclude with an evening program beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The lawn experience will consist of a Community Clubhouse hosted by She Can Club, a Women’s Art Hub presented by Petaluma Arts Center, a Daytime Talk Tent for small-group book discussions, yoga, local businesses, and more.
Tickets are $68 and can be purchased at tickets.sonoma.edu.
