This year’s NFL Thanksgiving game slate had everything, such as clutch moments, tough mistakes and a couple of games that probably ruined some family dinners. But for football fans, especially SSU students that are trying to watch games while balancing homework and preparing for finals, it was a must-watch.
The day started off in Detroit, where the Green Bay Packers beat the Lions 31-24. Quarterback Jordan Love threw four touchdowns and looked in control. Detroit had chances to get back in the game, but Green Bay kept answering, especially with defense. A big fourth-down stop late basically shut the game down.
The Cowboys and Chiefs followed with the game of the day. Dallas held on for a close 31-28 win behind Dak Prescott’s 328 yards and two touchdowns. Watching it felt like every play mattered, which is the kind of close game we all wanted. For Kansas City, it was their first Thanksgiving game in nearly 20 years, but Dallas spoiled the return with a clutch final drive. The Cowboys moved to 6-5-1, while the Chiefs dropped to 6-6 and definitely didn’t look like their usual powerhouse selves.
The night wrapped up with Cincinnati taking down Baltimore 32-14. The Ravens came in on a five-game win streak, but five turnovers will ruin anybody’s night. Watching it almost felt like a completely different team from the last month. Cincinnati kept things simple, capitalized on every mistake and never really let the game get close.
