When considering the unique values offered by clubs at Sonoma State University, the Intervarsity club stands out by fulfilling multiple criteria. The goal of the club is to bring individuals interested in learning about christianity closer together in a natural manner.

Meeting weekly on Thursdays on the second level in the Student Center at the heart of SSU’s campus, every meeting aims to unite people who share similar values of God while nurturing closer relationships.

“Intervarsity club thoroughly values the way that our community views creating friendships across campus. We welcome people of all cultural and religious backgrounds to all of our Bible studies, events and our community as a whole, ” said third-year liberal studies major and group leader Sofia Pulido, “During these bible studies, our goal is to create a kind, loving and welcoming environment for people of all different walks of faith.. It has been beautiful to see lives transformed [because of the club].”

For the average student at Sonoma State, meeting people can be a challenge at times due to the potentially inclusive nature of the campus. The Intervarsity club, however, brings people together in a judge-free environment.

When asked how the Intervarsity Club has impacted his experience on campus, second-year psychology major Aidan Hickman said, “Intervaristy has impacted my life on campus by being a community I didn’t know I needed. I’ve met some of my best friends there and think it is a place where I know I can go to if I ever need support.”

Whether the group is taking a deepdive look into various excerpts of the bible, sharing weekly experiences, or simply enjoying one another’s company, the Intervarsity club forms relationships with SSU students of all backgrounds.

“I love Intervarsity,” third-year psychology major and group leader Linnea Strathdee said, “it’s provided me with a place to grow in my faith during a crucial time in my life. It’s also encouraged me to grow in a community and lead others.”

All in all, for those interested in becoming more involved on campus while building a connection with like-minded people with the goal of becoming closer to God, Intervaristy is the club for you.
