Tekashi 6ix9ine made his court appearance on Tuesday, Sept. 17 after being charged for racketeering and drug trafficking charges about a year ago. According to VIBE Tekashi 6ix9ine, Daniel Hernandez, was testifying against his old crew Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods. Tekashi was given a photo where he identified members of his entourage as high ranking gang members of Nine Trey Gang.

Before all the fame and riches, Tekashi 6ix9ine was just Daniel Hernandez from Brooklyn, New York. Growing up Hernandez lost his father at the age of 13. According to an interview he did with No Jumper, Hernandez father was murdered in 2009. Hernandez was expelled from the eighth grade and with the loss of his father he was left to help his mother to keep a roof over their heads and to help put food on the table. He worked a few jobs before starting to sell marijuana.

In 2014 Hernandez began his music career changing his name to Tekashi 6ix9ine, or just 6ix9ine. He began rapping on Soundcloud, and according to his interview with No Jumper he was rapping just for fun, not expecting it to take off. 6ix9ine wasn’t just known for his music, he was also known for his fashion and appearance. His signature look was rainbow hair with a rainbow grill to match.

Soundcloud was the start for a lot of rappers in 2015; XXXTenacion and Trippie Redd are two known rappers who got their start on the music platform. 6ix9ine used his fame at the start of his career to stand up for kids who struggled with bullying and other difficulties.

In February 2015 6ix9ine found himself in a sexual misconduct case. The case was filed a week after the incident had taken place at a Harlem Apartment. Videos were shared to instagram to his private account. In the videos 6ix9ine is seen with a minor, who he believed was of legal age. 6ix9ine was 18 at the time and the minor only 13. When he was questioned about the videos being on his instagram account he replied, “they’re for my image,” according to Vulture. He was arrested in March and charged with the use of a child in a sexual performance. He pleaded guilty to one felony count.

In October 2017 6ix9ine released his official debut single “GUMMO,” and his song was soon number 12 on the Billboard Charts. 6ix9ine did an interview with DJ Akademiks in November, claiming that the minor and him did nothing, and only were seen in the videos.

6ix9ine With all these incidents happening Tekashi 6ix9ine is gaining followers and fans. 6ix9ine found himself in more legal trouble, his plea deal for his 2015 sexual misconduct case was revoked due to his ongoing legal troubles. He was asked to register as a sex offender and serve one to three years in prison. 6ix9ines lawyers managed to have him serve four years probation. The more Tekashi 6ix9ine provoked other artists and involved himself in online drama the more the anticipation for his debut album Dummy Boy, releasing November 23, grew larger and larger. During a video shoot for Tekashis new album, a shooting occurred, while Nicki Minaj and Kanye West were on set.

On November 15, 6ix9ine fired his entire management team including his publicist, booking agent, and manager Shotti. He had an American Tour set up but cancelled that same day. He later did an interview with The Breakfast Club, when he was asked about why he fired his entire team he answered with, “can’t trust nobody.” He also went on to mention the shooting on set was the final straw for him. He felt as though the shooting was an inside job.

A few days later 6ix9ine was transferred to a federal facility that is meant for witnesses who are cooperating with law enforcement.
