Are photos actually worth remembering?

It’s a stark reality, but the times of photo albums and disposable film are gone. Instead people are filling up memory cards with hundreds of photos, and when those are full, they resort to their trusty iPhone. 

From an economic standpoint, when something is produced in large quantities its value decreases, but does that hold true to photographs?

University teams up with junior college to combat sexual assault

From 1997 to 2013, women from ages 18 to 24 experienced higher rates of rape or sexual assault than any other age bracket, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. Today, sexual assault is an issue receiving plenty of media attention with cases at universities nationwide. To help fight sexual assault Sonoma State University and Santa Rosa Junior College have partnered up in participating in the ‘It’s On Us’ initiative.

Issue of food insecurity presses on in Sonoma County

Despite Sonoma State University’s location in Sonoma County where food is in high production, hunger is still an issue for many citizens. The Sonoma State STAR published an article last month, highlighting the effort of the California State University’s research on campus-hunger, but the issue is much more widespread.

Cal State tackling food security, homelessness

Since April 2015, the California State University Office of the Chancellor has been funding research regarding homelessness and food insecurity among CSU students. Chancellor Timothy P. White, announced that the research was to be extended with a second phase.

Multicultural dinner presents foods from around the world

Sonoma State University creates outlets to help students represent the various cultures that are coexisting on campus.
Recently, the Multicultural Organization Club and Alliance, or MOCA, held a multicultural dinner in the Kitchens to help spread awareness about other cultures.

Technology comes into the classroom

Last Thursday, Sonoma State University held its fourth Teacher Technology Showcase. The event was filled with educators and community members showing off technology ranging from robots to iPad apps. This year the event was moved into the more spacious third floor ballroom.
