Q: How do you balance your school responsibilities with your social life and any extracurricular activities?
Quartararo: “I can do this by creating a calendar and planning my week in advance on Sundays to stay in check with everything.”
Loudermilk: “Time management is the key to any work-life balance, and it’s when you know what days you have off, you have to plan accordingly for what you want to do.”
Q: How do you plan your weekends and weekdays? Are there things that you might prioritize on weekdays over weekends?
Planning your school days and weekends can be tricky, but a college student needs to stay on top of their work and keep a social life. Kaleb Quartararo said he “prioritizes weekends to not doing homework/studying, so I make sure to do that during the week.”
There is no right or wrong way to plan and prioritize, but Loudermilk has found what works for him and says, “I try to get all of my homework or major errands done on my work days to clear out all the time for when I have my days off.”
Q: What activities outside of school/homework do you find to be the most fun, and why?
Quartararo: “My fraternity, Pi Kappa Phi, is the most fun for me because I spend a lot of time with it outside of class/school.”
Loudermilk: “Mainly, what I like to do when it’s the right time of the season is skiing or going hunting whenever bird season comes up or big game hunting.”
Q: How are you able to stay motivated and focused when you have more school work than you expected to have?
Quartararo: “I stay motivated by getting ahead on everything. Making sure to plan your week is crucial.”
Loudermilk: “I stay motivated because I know that it will be all worth my career as an accountant five years from now.”
Q: In what ways has your college experience surprised you, or have you yet to meet up to the expectations that you have had?
Quartararo: “My college experience has lived up to my expectations. Being social has allowed me to meet many friends and future connections.”
Loudermilk: “To be honest, coming in, I thought I would be very alone in college and thought making friends was hard, but I think I lucked out with the people I met, which connected me with many other people that I would like to call lifelong friends.”
