Geology department founding father passes

SSU Workplace announced Monday the passing of geology professor Terry Wright, who died on Sept. 6. Wright was among the founding faculty members of the department in the ‘60s and ‘70s. 

Wright received his PhD from the University of Illinois in 1970 and taught multiple courses at SSU over the years. 

“Terry was happiest and thrived at the intersection of geology and adventure, whether it was on a river, in the mountains, or in the desert,” said Matt James, chair of the Geology Department, in the obituary.
